Introduction

The culture of Italy incorporates all the cultural events that take place in Italy. Italy is renowned for its art, culture and its numerous monuments, including the Tower of Pisa and the Colosseum Roman. Furthermore, it is well known for its cuisine (famous Italian dishes are pizza and pasta), wine, lifestyle, art and architecture, design, films, theaters, and literature and music.

Italy was the cradle of great civilizations such as the Etruscan and Greek, which left their footprints in the evolution of Western culture. Art, philosophy, languages ??and politics are some of the reflections left in the Italian culture. Speaking of Italian culture is to talk about the key elements for which, Italy is recognized like art, architecture, cuisine, design, opera, and so on. The Tower of Pisa, the Colosseum in Rome, and Venezia are some of the distinctive architectures of the country.

Appearance wise, the central and southern regions of Italy show huge influences of traditional cultures and Mediterranean people, having brown and black hair. However, the northern Italians are taller with blue eyes, fair complexion and blond hair.

These are just ethnic differences. Hence, the personality of the north-south Italians is common. They are typically in love with life. Furthermore, they are sociable, passionate, demonstrative and very good looking. Both men and women from Italy are considered the most beautiful in the world.

Italians are anxious workers who wait for time to relax (Markus & Kitayama, 1991). They usually spend their leisure time with families or friends. They work five days a week and a half Saturday. Furthermore, they prefer to take long breaks to cut the working day. For Italians, family comes first. The main meal is in turn the main excuse to gather family and share the best time of the day, where they eat, drink and socialize (Pontecorvo & Fasulo, 1999). The vast majority of Italians are Roman Catholic due to the great influence of the Church throughout history. Churches strongly influenced the art and life of Italians as well. Sculptures, paintings, and architectures are some of the arts which are influenced by Catholicism.

As far as art is concerned, the Italian Renaissance was the driver of the era of the Renaissance in Europe. This period lasted from the late fourteenth century until 1600, and it was a time of great cultural change to be the intermediate stage between the medieval and modern Europe (Cole, 1996).

The Italian Renaissance began in Tuscany, which centered in the cities of Florence and Siena. Then, it had an important impact in Rome. Highlight of this period was the great literary creations of Dante, Petrarch, Castiglione and Machiavelli. Furthermore, the works of art of Michelangelo, Raphael and Leonardo da Vinci, and great architectural works of the Church of Santa Maria del Fiore in Florence and the Basilica of San Peter in Rome are significant (Paoletti & Radke, 2005).
