Introduction

In today's rapidly changing business and technological environment everything changes very fast. In other words, it can be said that there is nothing permanent except change. The issue change management is linked to the management of the organization because change and development are interconnected concepts (Galavan et al., 2008). In fact, it is the development that aid to change and any change is a development for not only the organization but also for employees working in that organization. The topic of change management and challenges associated with it has received a widespread attention from various researchers, academic institutions, business organizations and industries as major businesses have realized the impact of challenges of change management in this competitive environment (Andriopoulos & Dawson, 2008). Whatever the strategy a company adopts, it is vital to know that change is a regular contain of business world and handling challenges plays a significant role in the process of transformation of any organization (Andriopoulos & Dawson, 2008). This paper aims to discuss the challenge of employees' resistance as result of change management in an organizational context.

Change Management in Organizations

Change management is a structured approach to the transfer of individuals, teams and organizations from its current state to a desired future state. The purpose of this organizational process is to empower employees to accept and support the changes in their current business environment. In Project Management, change management can be seen as a process that formally submits and approves changes to the project (Luecke, 2003). It is also important to know that sometimes the question is: What else can be managed, if not change? After all, management is possible that moves the process. For practical purposes it is convenient to see the concepts of management and change management as two separate processes (Brown, 2009). In fact, the change management allows managers to manage change in position from one point to another, where the administration of whole process is seen as a control of the movement. In other words, the process also teaches all people to move on to something different than the one they are working on or attached within their present working state (Beach, 2005).

Biggest Challenge to Management

No doubt, resistance can be seen as a biggest challenge that most of the organizations face today (Brown, 2009). Research shows that when an organization plans to initiate a change, managers initially think about what would be the main attitude of employees towards change as they know that majority of employees oppose consciously or unconsciously to change (Beach, 2005). In fact, 'Resistance' has been identified as an important phenomenon in any process of change in any organization. There is no doubt about the fact that Resistance to change is a normal and usual but to better understand the process of change management, it is necessary to understand the reasons that causes resistance.
