Arthur, C. (1994). Literary supplement: Technology: A questionable concept: Contemporary Review, 264(1540), 273.

The above article is a review of the book, Technopoly by Neil Postman. In this review Arthur described that according to Neil Postman technologies including video games come at a very high cost. He explains that through a slow and subtle process, these video games are taking away the values from our children which they used to cherished once. One new idea in this article is the influence of video games and technology on the language. No other reviewer of the book sheds light on this aspect, which has been covered by the author; the use of technology is a potential threat to the ideology of the culture.

This review provides the readers a deep insight of the effects of technology on the society especially the effects of video games and computers on the children of today. However, as a source, the article needs to have much focused conclusion.

Beadle, M. E. (1995). Technology, Media Monopolies and Curriculum: ERIC.

Beadle describes that technology is both a friend and enemy of our society. He believes that technology especially video games are directing the thoughts of our children and are taking away their creativity. He also explains that our children have become very much exposed to violence due to these video games which is actually making them insensitive to the effects of violence in the present world. The book asks the educators to resist to the use of technology as it can have negative effects on the people as well as on the children. The author is very much right in saying that no institution, like church government, schools or family can stop the flow of information from reaching children. However, the author must have provided the answers to some of the important questions, such as the role of video games from saving the children from the negative effects of the technopoly.

The author stresses that technology especially video games are part of our children's life today; however there should be a check and balance for the amount of time kids spend on these activities.

Dill and Dill explains that in recent times, video game industry has introduced games which are devastatingly sexist, violent and also bigoted and racist. It is believed that there is more at risk than just the reminiscence for our weakening idea of childhood innocence. Dill and Dill are right in observing that media industries are actually elements of the 'witch hunt' state of mind that covers the fight over social values and ...
