To identify the frequent use of drugs among college students and highlight the reasons that is linked towards this frequent use of drugs.
Drug use among students results in inefficiency thus declining student's motivation and attention level from studies.
Populations and sample
In our project i.e. a complete electronic survey, we will randomly take a sample of around 4,590 college students. 50% will be men and rest of the 50% will be women. Further, we will be dividing this ratio in different regions for instance, Asians, Native Americans, African Americans and other racial categories. Sampling method will be Standard Deviation that will be further collected and analyzed on the basis of the data as collected by web based survey.
Dependent variable
In our project, there will be three dependant variables that will essentially play an important role in this research:
Use of Alcohol / Marijuana dependency
The baseline based sample that is actually dependent on will be comprising of around 4,590 individuals with complete range of data on sex, race as well as on the dependence ratio that usually occurs during the first annual stage of analysis. Those individuals who are actually not meeting the criteria or those individuals who actually used the substance less than or equal to 5 times in the past year will be treated as to be not dependent individuals.
Dependency on incidence
In order to have a proper and a detailed analysis on the dependency of incidence, the sample of around 800 individuals will be taken who will be regarded as to be non-dependent on alcohol and also on marijuana (Gilliland, et.al, 2007).
Persistence vs. remittance dependency
The remaining individuals from the sample size who were actually regarded as to be dependent on either alcohol or on marijuana will be further moved on with complete follow up.
