Abstract

In this paper, we try to focus on ethical principles. It discusses the approaches to ethics that were covered include the following: Consequentialism, Regularianism, Deontology, Virtue Theory, & Moral Foundations Theory. In this research paper, following approaches might be used from the standpoint of correctional staff members, to evaluate the morality of the law in question. We try to identify how the ethical interpretations of these groups would contrast.

Consequentialism

Consequentialism is an umbrella term for theories in the field of ethics, the moral value of an action because of their consequences assessed. Consequentialism is often by the motto "The end justifies the means" clear. "Consequentialist" ethics are thus both in contrast to deontological ethics, the (given) the acts themselves and not the consequences as dutifully assessed, allowed or prohibited, as well as to virtue ethics, in the character and motivation of the actor are the crucial component (Cripe, 2005).

Fall within the definition of consequentialism of utilitarianism and the varieties of ethical egoism. It requires the utilitarianism that the consequences of an action by the overall benefit of all ethical subjects should be as large as possible, the ethical egoism wonders, especially after the personal advantage. Depending on how the overall benefit or personal advantage to be determined (long-or short-term, globally or locally, or on welfare to self-esteem related, etc.), result in this case quite different normative systems.

Regularianism

Regularianism,” examines the theory that an act is morally good if it obeys a rule and morally bad if it breaks a rule. There are all sorts of rules, such as religious commands, criminal and civil laws, social norms, and professional codes of conduct.

Deontology
