Safety is the key component of life. The police and criminal justice system needs to play the most important part in reducing the rate of crime. Crime exists everywhere and no society in the world is free of crime. The need is to contain it as much as possible. The main key to controlling crime in state of Pennsylvania would be using crime mapping. Through this technology we will be able to identify the place where offenders live. It will also be easy to locate the victims. Through this technology, we will analyze how the offenders have traveled to the location where the crime was committed. It will also help in identifying the emerging neighborhood issues. We will be profiling the characteristics of such area. This will allow us to realize how these contribute to the cause of incident. Another advantage that would be gained is that we would be able to identify why these crime incidents have been occurring in one location or the other. After having identified these places, we resort to increasing policing in these areas. Another step would be encouraging the residents of these areas to report any suspicious activity they see in this area. This will allow us to actively monitor the situation going on in the area. Under-cover cops are another best option. These would be asked to roam in these areas well disguised and monitor the law and order situation (www.ncjrs.gov).

Another main advantage that would be gained by these activities would be that the repeat offenders will be identified. Also those who have been convicted of any crime will also be monitored. The likeness of someone who has committed a crime resorting once again to committing a new crime is very much high. It is therefore for this reason that such people need to be monitored.
