Introduction

The police department of Tampa city provides public safety services and crime prevention services to the citizens of Tampa, Florida. In order to incorporate the city the city Marshall created the first law enforcement position by an act in 1855. The police department of Tampa has over 1000 personnel for core policing and another 350 support staff positions including civilians.
