Constructivist Teaching

Introduction

Constructivist teaching is a new method adopted by the teachers and schools, which tends to base itself on the theory of constructivist learning. This theory suggests that students tend to build upon the knowledge they already acquire, which is based on the ideals of schema. It is believed that all the educational which a student tends to receive is riddled through already existing schemas. The theorists suggests that the education received by the students tend to be more useful and effective both for the students and for the society if the students tend to be more active and connect himself/herself in the learning process. It is far better and would translate into something practical, relatively receiving the knowledge inertly.

Research Statement

In the context of this paper it is vital to frame a research question around which the whole paper will revolve. In the present century it is believed that the knowledge is not attained but constructed, as per this argument learning is the capability to think and apply those concepts which have been constructed. These thoughts can be used for oneself or for the collective good of the society, but to approve of the fact many factors needs to considered before jumping onto any conclusion.

Basis

Before trying to implement any theory it is vital to chalk out the ills of the exiting teaching ways so that the argument for adopting new theory holds a firm ground. The problems which tend to exists today in our system include the existing practices which already have raised many questions regarding the student's capability to apply the concepts which they learn in their classrooms. In order to make students apply the concepts, the methods which need to be adopted is enabling the teachers teach, how to teach in the class. It involves the practices to make the course more interesting by adopting new methods or adjusting their old methods of doing businesses.

Teaching however is the art which enables the student to contribute positively towards the growth of the society, however if the theory of constructive learning is followed the knowledge imparted is not viewed as objective phenomena rather it is viewed as something subjective ,which is in direct opposition to the early concepts of teaching. Before analyzing the effects of this form of teaching it is vital to identify the physiological needs for such a system to be in place (Lew, 2010). Jean Piaget states that knowledge which an individual receives is the consequence of the individual constructions as per the understanding of the student. He is also of the view that the knowledge which the students end to receive has been outdated ...
