Communication Report Regarding Communicable Diseases

Introduction

Effective communication refers to the communication that is comprehended by both the parties. Communication is a process to deliver ideas and information from one person to another. It is basically the exchange of verbal or written information. Communication processes are interactions that are sign-mediated, among at least two share collections of semiotic rules and signs. When we talk about the health and care setting then this phenomenon becomes essential, because without effective communication, proper and appropriate care cannot be delivered. Communication is basically a mutual communication in which both participants can understand each other's perspective. If any one party fails to comprehend the message given by the other party, then this is not an effective communication (Adam, 2007). This eventually leads to failure of communication, resulting in the end of health care provision-or if proceeds, it leads to errors, risk to patient safety and the poor quality of care. That is completely wastage of time without any fruitful result.

Human beings, animals, birds, every living organism do talk and communicate with each other for fulfilling various demands. A child in his mother's lap, do not know how to talk but he shows different signs through which mother understand that what he needs. He expresses the pain sensation or hunger by “crying”. According to my observation communication process initiates when the life begins. When a child enters in this world, he shows his aliveness by crying. This indicates that a child is normal human being. This “cry” is basically a sort of communication. In easy terms we can define communication as the expression of ideas that could be in any form. “Nature” created many beautiful creatures and make it more beautiful by creating this phenomenon of Communication. Similarly, throughout the life human beings and all living creatures do communicate with each other so that a link is maintained. For successful communication, presence of at least two people or minds is necessary. In real sense, communication refers to convey of message from one person to another so that one person may first understand, follow and then try to implement according to the conveyed message. If one subject is unable to understand and follow the message, then it cannot be termed as communication.

Elements of Communication

After a deep and analytical study of above definitions, it can be concluded that there are five essential elements of communication. These are as follows:

a)Communication: There must be a message. The message may be in the form of writing or verbal. It may be in the form of message, order or request.

b)Sender: There must be a sender of message.

c)Receiver: There must be a receiver of message. Generally the receiver is a subordinate. However, the receiver of message may be the senior officer also.

d)Feedback: Feedback of message is necessary for the communication. Communication is a circular process. Every communication leads to some reactions or feedback, within in turn generates future communication (Stanton, 2004).
