Introduction

An important field, which has to be given ample importance, is the Health promotion and effective communication during the antenatal period. Antenatal education is an important area that deals with how to take care during antenatal period. Still there are practices that demonstrate that nowadays men and women have taken huge step in getting out of the traditional approaches that were used during the antenatal period and in parenting. It is due to the awareness and improvement in the health field. The last few weeks in child birth requires great care and complete support from all the family members. There are many strategies by which both husband and wife can build up strong bond during the antenatal period. Communication from a child to the mother is of great importance as it shows strong relationship among them. One of the most crucial days for a woman is the last few weeks of antenatal period.

The health promotion theories and communication theories used during the antenatal period are critically analysed in this study. If there is a communication barrier between the parent and the upcoming child, it will be a sign of great problem for all of them. The role of midwives can be of great importance as they are experienced and can help the parent in maintaining right communicational channels between parent and child during antenatal period. Antenatal education can really help in improving the health condition of mother and child as it will help in generating the link between them. I have highlighted the importance of theories, which promote the health of parent during antenatal period.

Discussion

In my view parent education has become an important field that has to be given enough importance by the medical consultants and practitioners. This education can helps the couple in taking good care of their marital relation and childbearing. The antenatal period is a crucial period that requires great care of the mother and child. It is the time when child develops the communicational channel with her mother (Kowaleski, 1998, pp.164). It should be highly recommended by the medical practitioner for the new couples to join parent education classes for enhancing their relations and building strong ties between themselves.

The problems that can be faced during the antenatal period are as follows:

Educational problems among the expectant couples can be a great problem

The poor socio-economic conditions

Poverty

The expectant couple suffering from mental health issues

Unbalanced relationships among partners

Communicational gaps among the parents

Violence based on gender discrimination

High stress level during pregnancy

These are the selected problems that can be faced by the parents during antenatal period if they are not well educated before getting into marital relation. The inequalities in the field of education, health and employment opportunities have passed on in a cycle from one generation to another.
