Cola Preference



Abstract

In this study we try to explore the concept of preference of cola beverages in a holistic context. The main focus of the research is on Pepsi, Coca Cola and RC and its relation with preference based on the taste. The research also analyzes many aspects of cola drinks and tries to gauge its effect on preference. The research shows that the participants prefer RC after the taste testing; however, the results were different before the taste testing.

Participants

The participants that took part in the study were the students and 20 students were tested to measure their preference for the cola brand. Therefore, 12 women and 8 men were tested with the mean age of 32.5 and the age of the participants range from 20 to 45. All of the participants were asked if they were diabetic prior to participation to recognize any probable health issues linked with drinking the high sugar content in each cola drink that include Pepsi, Coca Cola and Rite Cola. For the study of cola preference, three brands of cola were identified or selected for the study, this include Pepsi, Coca Cola, and RC Cola. Moreover, the students were assigned a number randomly to characterize them, and change in their preference of cola from the beginning of the study and at the closing stages of the study.

Furthermore, all of the participants represented a percentage to help in identifying the number of students who do prefer a definite cola drink before tasting of all the three options and also the percentage after tasting all three beverages that are Pepsi, Coca Cola and Rite Cola. All of the participants of the cola preference study were also given a cup of water before to the taste testing of the Pepsi, Coca Cola and Rite Cola, this cup of water was used to clean the palette of the participants of the study so that the taste of one cola product could not change the flavor or make influence on the next cola product. All of the selected drinks were also counterbalanced while students were out of the room, to permit students the equivalent amount of cola from each of the three beverages and to put a stop to students from bearing in mind which of the cola product went into the cup before to the tasting test. Furthermore, each of the participants was being called in isolation to give a try the cola product, consequently they were also could not be inclined by other participants of the study in the environment. Therefore, the student would be making out their preferred cola by taste and also by flavor, and excluding the factors such as environmental influences.

Procedure
