Classical Liberals, Welfare State Liberals & Traditional Conservatives

A proposal to make all public higher education free;

Classical liberals

Classical liberals think that the powers of the government should be limited. However they think that they should provide the basic rights to their people. Education is the priority for any society and government. In the beginning of the 19th century classical liberalism was a philosophy developed by United States and Britain's. This ideology mainly focused over the industrialization and the problems that were raised during the urbanization. Classical liberals think that government must safe guards the rights of their people and provide them basic living facilities. Hence classical liberals will support the proposal of free education in higher universities (Buchanan, 2005).

Welfare state liberals

Welfare state liberals believe in formation of such a government that safeguards the rights of their people and works for the social and economic well being of their people. They believe that there are few evils of the society which includes poverty, disease and ignorance etc. Many welfare state liberals think that these great giants can be defeated by promoting free education, better healthcare services and social security in the society. This shows that the proposal of promoting free education at higher and university level will be supported by the state welfare liberals (Gouldner, 1968).

Traditional conservatives

Traditional conservatives widely believe that the individuals must be admitted in the schools without racial discrimination. So that they should get better jobs and equal job opportunity in the future. They believe in promoting and providing equal opportunity to have quality education. They also believe in promoting free education so that more people can avail that opportunity. However the concept of free education in traditional conservatives is to provide quality and free education ob merit come need basis. Hence they will support the promotion of quality and free education at higher level and universities (Graham, et.al, 2009).

A proposal to end the death penalty nationwide

Classical liberals

Classical liberals are not in favor of death penalty even in cases of severe crimes. They prefer to punish the criminals for 130 years apart from giving them death penalty. Classical liberals think that the state must be separated from the religion and both of them should not be taken simultaneously. They believe that every person have right to practice their religion and freedom of expression. Hence they believe that death penalty is violent punishment hence this must be avoided. However America still believes in providing death penalty to the criminals that commits severe crimes (Buchanan, 2005).

Welfare state liberals

Welfare state liberals are against the death penalty same as in the case of classical liberals. The main aim and focus of the welfare state liberal's is to work for the well being of the society and remove the evils such as poverty and disease from the society.
