Introduction

Construction business is considered to be one of the largest business sectors of the world. The economy of any country highly depends on this construction industry. Therefore it is very important that at construction sites, the health and safety of the employees is ensured. If the conditions on the construction sites are not made safe, then it could cause damage to the life, health and professional skills of the workers. It is obvious that not all but many of the accidents occur due to the negligence in developing a sound and reliable safety policy.

Once the rules and policies have been designed it becomes the responsibility of every worker to adhere themselves to it because it is in their favour. Safety and accident prevention is everyone's responsibility (Meola, 2009, p.1). If any mishap minor or major occurs on the construction site it not only demoralize the labours it affects the production of the project as well. So it is undoubtedly necessary to design a fine safety policy for the workers.

The site where our future development will be carried out is already a commercially developed site. This demands even more strict safety rules to be designed and then followed by the employees for their and the general public's welfare.

Steps for safety insurance

Orientation session

We feel that the safety and health should be the priorities of any work site. We believe that safety and health maintenance rules are so important that work on them should be started right away. Orientation session of all employees and labours will be conducted prior to starting the work.

This orientation will cover:

The safety rules and procedures that will be followed in case of any emergency.

The use of fire extinguishers will be taught to everyone following a tool box briefing session so that their usage is clear.

Proper tactics of weight lifting and working postures will be discussed in detail.

The importance of use of personal safety equipments on work sites.

Proper ways of use of all the hazardous or non hazardous chemicals in detail.

Presence of all the labours will be made mandatory in the session. If any new labour will be hired during the construction phase then separate training and orientation set up will be conducted for him exclusively (Bogner, N.C.Department of Labour, n.d.).

Accident Reporting and Investigation:

In case, any injury or damage or mishap on the site occurs it is the responsibility of all the labours and personals present there to report it, no matter how small or insignificant the incident may seem to them. If it is learned that any incident that occurred was not reported to the concerned authority serious action will be taken against the labours.

The authorities are then supposed to investigate the incident. They will look into the matter closely are come out with the reason so as to why that incident occurred. All the labours are encouraged to cooperate with the investigating team so that the ...
