This paper intends to explore the cultural study of a particular nation that is rich in culture and traditions. For this purpose the nation chosen in this research is China. The modern concept of culture can be termed as the set of knowledge and practices acquired deemed to be essential part of society. These cultures are transmitted from generation to generation. However, china is considered to be very diverse in cultures and it has very strong formation.

The civilization of China is said to be the most ancient civilization of world and its cultures and traditions spans over the land of East Asia. Since it is one of the oldest cultures, there are various interesting and mysterious features found in it.

Cultural Traditions

The Chinese culture is a bit complex with too many traditions and rituals, passing from generations. Some of them have been disappeared while some are still being practiced religiously. The customs that are practiced dates back to many centuries old.

Traditions followed in one community may seem eccentric in the other, but nevertheless, they hold great significance to that community. An example of this can be the debilitating tradition in china of foot binding. It may seem unbearable to other society but in China it is esoteric essence of pure bliss. Living like this used to make every family and neighbor aware of every one's business. However, rules were laid down that who will occupy which place in the area.

One of the unique traditions of China is making designs with knots. These are made with thread work and turns out astonishing. Every design is termed as a good luck charm. The most famous knot is double happiness. This is usually gifted to the newly married couple, signifying a prayer to double their happiness and luck.

It is a very unique and interesting form of Chinese theatre that narrates the tales of Chinese legends, famous battles and romantic stories. In earlier days, there were troupes who used to pass through China and performed their shows, but however at present the best shows are being performed in Beijing Opera.

This is one of the oldest forms of entertainment from the era of Song dynasty. It is a kind of storytelling that was most demanded by Chinese people in ancient times mostly during the holiday seasons. The tales narrated by the puppets were mainly about the events that occurred in other regions of the society and they always revolved around the Buddhist essence.
