Introduction

From past several decades American people and government are fighting against the childhood obesity, and unfortunately it is the most dramatically growing problem of the society. Researchers have started observing the root causes and their solution. This problem is mostly found in childhood, and then grows with the age of the person. This problem has various affects in several forms. Childhood obesity disturbs children socially and psychologically. Parents of child with obese have become worried and depressed because of their children health. Is a child is equal or more than 95th percentile in their Body Mass Index they fall under the obesity problem. Researchers have found that children spent most of their time in schools after their homes. School is the place where children's eating habit is established and gradually it becomes their need. Schools are responsible for student's physical activity and health. A part from education, schools must take responsibility of physical fitness. The following research investigates how schools can develop their plans and activities to control the childhood obesity. The research has used the secondary data to find what a school is doing and can do to overcome or reduce this problem. Accepting the medical and genetic reasons of childhood obesity, but there are some children who develop their eating habit, which results obesity (Johnson, 2002).

Thesis Statement

“School management can help and control childhood obesity by imparting healthy food in cafeteria, and indulging them in physical activities.”

Discussion

Child Obese Alert

Obesity refers as, “an excessive accumulation of fat in the body.” A child is considered obese when their weight exceeds 20% of their ideal weight. Obesity in children begins between six months and seven years of the percentage of those who remain obese in adulthood, which is 40%. While for those who started between ten and thirteen years, the odds are 70% because the cells that store fat (adipocytes) are multiplying at this stage of life which increases the possibility of the child to be obese as an adult. There are many factors which contribute to childhood obesity like food intake, energy consumption, hereditary factors, hormonal imbalance, psychological and environmental factors, etc. These are going to be discussed in more detail in this document. (Rouse, 2010)

However, in certainty it is an illness that involves much more than that. Obesity can lead to serious health problems like breathing difficulty, choking, sleep disorder, sleepiness, bone problems, skin disorder, extreme sweating, swelling of the foot and ankle, menstrual disorder in women and augmented risk of heart diseases problem, diabetes, asthma attacks, cancer and gallbladder diseases, all these are problems associated with overload weight. Throughout the world, this problem has increased and more children are at risk of developing further problems because of their obesity (Norvell, 1995).
