The topic under study relates to child development through observation at infant and toddlers center, a family day care center or any place that provides non-parental care of infants and toddlers. Infants and toddlers refer to children younger than or of 30 months of age. The topic also includes a two hour observation for Infant/Toddler Environment Rating Scale. Introduction
Decades of research demonstrate the need for education services for infants and toddlers as a preventive measure against later school failure and behavioral problems. In fact, high-quality early childhood education services can contribute to a better school and life success. Longitudinal studies demonstrate lasting effects of such programs, and infants and toddlers center are increasingly contributing.
There are six dimensions of ITERS-R namely, space and furnishing, personal care routines, listening and talking, activities, interaction and program structure. These dimensions additionally contains likert items which are, Indoor Space, Furnishings for routine care and play, Provision for relaxation and comfort, Room arrangement, Display for children, Greeting/Departing, Meals/Snacks, Nap, Diapering/Toileting, Health practices, Safety practice, Helping children understand language, Helping children use language, Using books, Fine motor, Active physical play, Art, Music and movement, Blocks, Dramatic play, Sand and water play, Nature/ science, Use of TV, video, and/ or computer, Promoting acceptance of diversity, Supervision of play and learning, Peer interaction, Staff-child interaction, Discipline, Schedule, Free play, Group play activities and Provisions for children with disabilities.

Established in 1948, Home for Toddler's primary mission is to foster pre-school and early childhood education to the infants of 30 months or younger age. All of the center's programs focus on providing necessary education and learning environment to children for the Early Childhood and School Readiness initiative which is particularly relevant for infants. The goal of the early childhood and school readiness initiative is to provide all the children accessible opportunities to gain full of quality and culturally sensitive early childhood programming. The initiative seeks to find examples of best practices and provides grant education to number infants. Home for Toddler's have policies that affect the well- being of America's children in a positive way, especially children in less advantaged families.
