A successful manager is a valuable asset for an organization who leads, take initiatives, use communication, plan strategically, focus on results, and have quality orientation.

In order to become a successful and influential manager, a person should have certain traits that distinguish him from others. These traits or characteristics equip a person to lead his team and become a role model for his followers. The characteristics of a successful manager differ with the emotions, psyche and the style of leadership selected by an individual in order to regulate his followers (Thompson, 1996). However, the most eminent and effective managerial traits are ideal behavior, inspirational motivation, intellectual simulation and individualized consideration.

Ideal Behavior

An effective manager discusses his principles and beliefs with his followers. A manager is always focused on the purpose and the outcomes of the objective. The ethical and moral grounds are the most important issues for the leaders as they never compromise on them. The effective managers always strive to explore new possibilities and strive to build trust among the followers.

Inspirational Motivation

The efficient managers are positive thinkers; they always look at the bright side of the scenario. They are always filled with zeal and are governed by never give up attitude. The managers always have a vision and the plan to succeed in different goals in order to reach their final destination (Zhang, 2000). The successful managers are fearless as they never hesitate to stand against anything wrong which is being done in their presence.

Intellectual Stimulation

Managers believe in critical analysis, so before taking any decision they execute in-depth analysis of the data and then formulate the strategy. Managers are always open to ideas and welcome new methods for problem solving. They also encourage their followers to participate in decision making process. Managers never stick to the benchmarks and the traditional problem solving tactics, they generate benchmarks of their own.

Individualized Consideration

Successful managers believe in the learning process whether the flow of learning is from leader to follower of from follower to the leader. Managers encourage their followers and consider them as the members of the family. They assist their followers in developing strengths and eradicate their weaknesses.
