Introduction

The main purpose of this paper is to make an action plan on the change management in the nursing sector. The change on which the action plan is being developed in this paper is to update and renew the storage area on the emergency assessment unit. This paper makes discussion on the nursing leadership, and the use of change model theory for the purpose of managing change in the emergency assessment unit.

This action plan is very helpful and significant for describing the importance of change by creating a link of the theories with the practices. The action plan is also helpful in the description of the leadership principles, and the advanced communication skills which can be helpful in the dissemination of the information within the health and/or social care team (Aldrich, 2009, p. 12). Last but not the least, this study is helpful for the purpose of evaluating the effectiveness of leadership and change management theory applied for the purpose of bringing improvements in the professional practice.

Change management is the most crucial step for any organization. To bring the change in the organization and manage this change in an effective manner is very difficult for the organizations. Thus, bringing the change in the services sector is more difficult. The change management in the healthcare sector is also difficult. These days, the healthcare managers find it very difficult to maintain the strategies through which they can easily maintain the competitive edge in the healthcare market, while maintaining the constant change in the sector (Dawson, 2003, p. 12). With the adoption of new and advanced technologies in the healthcare sector, rapid change is being observed. New technologies like the electronic health records, the institute's pay-for-performance plans and the quality improvement initiatives have been emerged in the healthcare sector. It is necessary for the healthcare professionals that they should understand the rationale behind these changes, and should gain an edge to deal with these changes (Collis, 2001, p. 56).

There can be significant impacts of the change on the role, status and the positions of the individuals; therefore, it is necessary to test the levels of the self-confidence and the confidence in others before going for the proper implementation of the change in order to assure the effective change management. In order to implement any change in any setting, there might be requirements of the financial backings in order to make investments in the purchase of equipments and settings, systems and people. Therefore, it is necessary that a plan should be developed in order to assure the process of change and manage the complex reactions.
