Change Management - Debenhams PLC

Introduction

Marketing and management philosophies have been helping organizations create strategies and plans which have been tested in theory and hence are applicable on real life situations. These management philosophies can only be defined as a set of ideas that make up the best management practices, and can thus be standardized for others. Although these standard practices cannot cater to every organization out there, they have a true enough affect if the theory is correct. In this paper, I will be analyzing and identifying the change management factors in the UK retail chain Debenhams PLC. It operates mainly in the U.K and Ireland, but has many franchise stores operating around the world. IT is also trying to establish itself as an internationally recognized brand, thus I will be examining its operations management and the changes that it aims to do in the near future as per its operations and strategic management (Stevenson, 2008).

The most important departments or one can say their specialty are health and beauty, wedding services, young fashion, women and men's wear, food services, Christmas, fashion accessories, home and children. Debenhams also provides online shopping facility, which for the past few years has been used by many customers to make purchase of the available products (Debenhams PLC).

Task 1

Change Management - Identifying change

In order to understand how far Debenhams has come in terms of change in management practices, a strategic analysis will be conducted henceforth. Debenhams has been around for such a long time that whenever change occurs, it is on a level that is easily recognizable. However, Debenhams has hesitated in taking the initiative to make innovations within their corporate culture for a certain period of time which may have hurt its chances in the long run.
