ABSTRACT
Challenging behaviour is perceived as a burden on carers and the people in the area of concern. Challenging behaviour is often described as when a person serves a long portion of the day in a socially un-appropriate and mal-adjusted behaviour. It is often a scenario that the person in question, despite patiently explaining, the care defies or becomes disturbing. The challenging behaviour, for example, as a piercing cry for help, constantly running around or as screaming fits can be observed. The behaviour of the person described without reference to the environment, is often described by the terms restlessness, agitation, restlessness and hyperactivity. Generally, it should be noted that it is not the term related to a psychiatric or neurological diagnosis. The effectiveness of social care staff depends largely on the social worker, his knowledge, experience and personal qualities. However, professional liability specialist determined not themselves, but the values and behavioural principles adopted by professional organizations. Values and behaviours of social work are reflected in the behavioural code of the profession, which serves as a benchmark practice. Behavioural code dictates the rules of conduct to which the profession are required to coordinate their actions in order to be worthy members of a professional organization. Keeping the relation between challenging behaviour and social setting in mind, this study determines the extent of challenging behaviour in a social care setting. The study analyse the effects that the challenging behaviour has on the social care team and individual social care workers.
