The client was facing problems as he was not able to concentrate on work and wanted to find new business. He wanted to live a passionate life. Although he had been successful in his previous business ventures, but this was not the case this time. In order to reduce the stress, and better able to concentrate on what he is thinking he is seeking for help. He believes that therapy would renew his energy.
Past relevant theory is also discussed by the client in this case showing his problem. He was very depressed was not able to concentrate on finding a new business avenue to start. Moreover, he wanted to feel good about his life and get over with the depression.
He had a confusing personality with sometimes no conclusions. He was often not clear on what he wanted to achieve, though he was a very capable leader, and always tried to lead teams and groups. All the mishaps had made his personality an abrupt one.
He was successfully running the dot com business until recession made a significant impact on his business, and he had to face loses. He did not have any livelihood, so he needed a business to come out of a difficult situation.
He was hugely inspired from his father who last his life in World War II (Bott, D, 2005, pp.19-21).
According to Person Centered theory
Person Centered theory is a concept that increases positive direction within the individual. It focuses on creating the belief within the individual that he or she has the ability to get the desired goals, and targets that one want to achieve. It focuses on providing different sets and conditions to an individual through which these objectives could be achieved. In other words, it creates confidence in an individual that he can achieve whatever he or she wants.
Client problem according to the person centered theory is that he is not able to understand or find ways to get new avenues of work. He has lost the confidence that he can still achieve success and a happy life.
Counselor can only promote the conditions for change rather than do things to bring about specific changes for the individual and situation. He can make him at ease, and make him feel that he can achieve whatever he want to. In order to get this successfully done, ...
