1) Project charter

a. Executive summary

The implementation of Enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems can be problematic for many organizations. It requires significant commitment of time, money and other resources from all the business units and sections of an organization.

b. Project goals and objectives

The principle aim of this project is to thoroughly identify the associated risks and controls used in the implementation of the Enterprise resource planning (ERP) system at the ABC corp. The project is also intended to understand and identify the ways through which ABC Corp can minimize the business risk associated with the implementation of the ERP systems which primarily includes disruptions to employees, other business units of the company and most importantly the customers of the company.

c. Scope and major deliverables

The implementation of the new ERP system is intended to upgrade the existing and the new sales and distribution function operational in the ABC Corporation. The implementation of the new system is expected to be cost effective for the ABC Corporation and will be able to run the sales and distribution department in a smooth way. It is also expected that the new ERP system will be easily able to handle the existing and additional customer base of ABC corp.

d. Project assumptions

It is assumed that all the resources needed for successful implementation of the Enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems will be made available to all the stakeholders involved in the implementation process, these principally include the subject matter experts. The other key assumption that has been made during the pre and post implementation phase includes availability of space for the project team so that implementation work can be processed in a smooth way.

e. Critical success factors

The main critical success factor through which the effectiveness and efficiency of implementation of ERP at ABC corporations can be assessed and analyzed is the concise plan, set up during the pre implementation phase. Similarly, the achievement of goals and objectives set out in the initial schedule which stated the roles and responsibilities can also be used to access the achievement of the degree of success relating to the implementation of ERP at ABC Corporation.
