Introduction

The case study deals with the issue of communication. The scenario that is mentioned in the case study is related to the non verbal communication. It highlights one of the aspects of the communication that we often ignore. The scenario of the case is that Sushma works as the project leader in Infosoft Solutions. One day she called her team for meeting at 0800 hours. She has the reputation to reach five minutes before the given time. On the day of meeting due to some circumstances she could not make on time. At around 0805 she was on the gate of her office and rushed towards the meeting room in hurry. In hurry she did not notice that sweepers are cleaning the floor and there is soap on the floor. As she was walking fast she slipped down. She was taken to the hospital. Investigation of the event shows that the housekeeping person forgot to put the sign board of “caution: wet floor” (Divekar, 2006).

The scenario of this case involves two aspects of the communication. The first aspect is related to the non verbal communication such as gestures, symbols and images. The second aspect is related to the verbal interpersonal communication.

As far as the relevance of these aspects is concerned with regard to me industry then it can be said that the communication is a factor that is important and relevant to all the fields. Communication remains an integral part of all the businesses in all the fields.

Analysis

The problem in this case is that the housekeeping member forgot to put the sign board of caution while he was cleaning the floor. The second problem is that Sushma was too concerned about her reputation and unknowingly she invited more troubles to her instead of worrying by utilizing the advantage of communication she could have saved her and her reputation (Divekar, 2006). It is the lack of awareness about the communication tools that caused this problem.

For the entire scenario the consequences are the responsibility of the housekeeping member who forgot to put the sign board of caution. To some extent it can also be said that there was some sort of responsibility of Sushma.

In this scenario, other could possibly happen. There is possibility that when Sushma fell on the floor no one could come to help her out. Moreover, she should have taken care while rushing towards the meeting room. There is also a possibility that the housekeeping member could inform Sushma about the fact that the floor is wet and that she should be careful.

There are a number of ways through which the consequences that occur in the case study can be dealt. First of all it is imperative to understand that interpersonal communication is not only a dimension of human life, but the dimension through which we as humans do.
