There are a number of problems that MTL is facing. Most of the problems that MTL is facing are related to the businesses that are acquired by MTL or have purchased by MTL. As a far as the sole or basic MTL corporation or major service is concerned the functions related to the major services is seems to be in normal and positive conditions. Before talking about the operation related or functional related problem let's discuss the management problem that MTL is facing. The first and foremost problems related to the management issue that MTL is facing is related to the resign of CEO Myra. Myra has been head hunted by another organization. In the next three months she would be leaving MTL. So, the main problem is that who would be the new CEO who would take the place of Myra. Myra along with David looked after the organization for so long. There exists a coordination and strong between David and Myra. A change in personality at this position can affect the effectiveness and efficiency of the organization. Whenever, a new employee joins a new organization then it takes time to adjust there and to understand the philosophies with which the organization works. When the operation of an organization is this much diverse and widespread then it can only be handled by someone who possesses immense experience in handling multiple SBUs. Another issue that MTL is facing related to the management of staff or people management is that it is the complaint of the employees that it becomes difficult for the employees to move from one place to another. MTL requires its employees to travel and move from one place to another as the business of MTL is spread worldwide.

If we move towards the functional and operational side of MTL then there are a number of problems related to different acquisitions that NTL has done. First of all the problem related to the acquired businesses and services that these businesses offer is not according to the nature of the MTL. MTL conducts its business with the philosophy of clearly described goals, timeliness and accuracy. Whereas the businesses that MTL has acquired in the recent past operates possess the nature of inaccuracy, in which things and scopes are not well defines and there is no description of timeliness in those businesses. For example, let's consider the example of Vectis. The business of Vectis is dependent on the reforms and policies of the NHS. Moreover, it is also adopt is shape according to the situation and condition of the economy as because of current recessionary period there are a number of procedures are in pending.
