Introduction

California has a dynamic history. It remained a place where there came many shades of life. The country finally became a state of the United States after much toil and fight. 1846 has been the war between Mexico and the United States, as a result, the independence of California claimed for. This, however, lasted only until 1848, when the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo the territory of the United States was awarded to State of California in 1850. The country again rose up in the 1941 era when during the World War II many developments took place. After 1900, California became an industrial power. California has seen much developments post 1900, in the form of new infrastructures and technology that completely changed the face of the state. The country also built relationships with the natural and cultural landscapes by constructing new buildings though innovative technologies.

Discussion

If we take a look on the infrastructures of California especially those from pre colonial times through the World War II, we would see how the state revamped its cultural heritage and gave a new look to its structures. If we take a closer look, we will be able to see how natural resources and calamities have affected California and how changes in population took place, leading to new technologies and materials into use. After the World War II, new railroads and transportation modes were developed and a major shift in industrial advancements can be easily noticed. The country emerged out of the war times as a struggler. However it did not give way to post-war miseries and woes, rather capitalized upon its own resources to provide a better standard of living for its inhabitants.

California witnessed significant changes in its architecture and cultural heritage during the colonial period. The technologies of building infrastructures were mainly brought by the Spanish and Mexicans. During the famous Gold Rush, new technologies were imported and materials were brought to use from international markets. Prefabricated buildings were also brought from abroad. After initial discovery of gold in the whole country, the gold rush broke out, and countless daredevils from the eastern states came to seek their fortune in California. About 250,000 people made ??their way to California in 1846-1848 on the extremely difficult road to the west, not only to find gold around, but also a climate in the region that gave better earning opportunities. ...
