Introduction

This essay is about evaluating two different business plans to determine the business plan in which investment should be made. It also provides an understanding of the format, writing style and organization of business plans and their strengths and weaknesses.

Discussion

After conducting a search on two business plans, I found one of them to be attractive in terms of making investment in it and the second one being an inadequate business plan which will not attract the investment. The business plan which is rejected is about coffeehouse called Café Bistro. I think this business is not very attractive because it has been claimed in its business plan that they will earn a minimum of 14 percent of net profit which is not possible (www.bplans.com). People generally think that for opening a restaurant one needs to have successful cooking. These people ignore the basic principles of business which include the securing of a good place at reasonable price, recruiting, training and motivating employees and marketing the restaurant in a proper manner. The industry average in the restaurants shows a maximum of 3.5% profit. Therefore, a profit margin of a minimum of 14 percent is impossible. Therefore, i think that investment should not be made in this business as the returns are not very high in this industry (Loscin, n.d.).

The business plan which I like is about recycling the waste materials. The company's name will be Mid-Atlantic Recycling whose business will be the collecting, recycling and marketing of the waste from the waste processing plant of municipality for the used as a consumer good. This recycled product will be able to make two of the most critical needs; provide the municipalities with a cost effective and feasible alternative as compared to the land filling of waste.
