Responsibilities, Direct and Indirect Relationships

I am working at Tesco as a Customer Assistant. As a part of my job responsibility, I was liable to look after customers and assist them regarding any query that they might have. Also, I am responsible to ensure that the shelves are properly stocked up, and the aisles are properly clean. While working as a Customer Assistant, I usually get in contact with the inventory supervisor, cleaning staff and most importantly the Assistant Manager Customer Care. All the relationships apart from that with the Assistant Manager Customer Care will be considered as indirect, whereas this will be considered direct because I report to him.

Adaptability to Learn

The nature of the job is such that I have to undergo a variety of activities at the same time. In order to demonstrate my learning and adaptability, I made sure that all the teachings which have been imparted to me, either through my seniors, or through learning from mistakes that I made earlier in my career. I underwent all the tasks with ease and made sure that I do not repeat the same mistake again. This gave my seniors the idea that I have learned and adapted into my work role. Also, one of the major reasons why I believe that I effectively implement this ideology of learning from mistakes is because a lot of times my managers and supervisors have acknowledged me working on my mistakes. According to them, I dedicate myself to a task and ensure that I meet all the necessary requirements to achieve success in that task.

Decisions Made

Once, without the prior knowledge of my reporting authority, I went on to give the cleaning staff an order that I wasn't authorized to. However, I did it because it was the need of the time and since my reporting authority was not present, an action had to be taken. When my supervisor came to know about this, he was pleased to know that I took charge of the situation and made the right decision. He acknowledged the fact that I did not make use or abuse my power, but did the right thing which was both the need of the moment, as well as in the favor of the business as a whole. After that day, he was pleased to realize that I had it in me to make appropriate decisions according the situation at hand, thus he went on to give me the approval of taking any such actions which I believe is in the favor of the business, in case he is not present at the workstation.
