This article talks about employee fatigue and burnout due to the uncertainty in the market regarding their future. The economy is recovering but the progress is slow which is directly impacting the salaries of the workers. According to a survey of 1,880 workers carried out by ComPsych, it was found that they suffered from signs of extended stress in their attitudes towards the precedence of work. Since last year, the only concern of the employees has been to show up to work, rather than perform and prioritize work. This can be evidenced by the fact that 22 percent of the employees said that their reason for working was just to show up at work. It is a 47 percent increase as compared to last year.

According to the results of the year 2012, 63 percent of the workers say that they face high levels of stress at job, with intense tiredness and having a feeling of not being in control. 39 percent of the respondents said that the deemed the workload as the main reason for stress. 53 percent of the respondents take breaks to talk out their stress with their colleagues, 36 percent respond that they put in more efforts. Approximately 47 percent of the respondents mention stress and personal relationship matters as the most general reason for being absent. The other reasons cited were medical and looking after responsibilities (Jayson, 2012).

Problems

The recession has caused the companies to cut down their workforce causing the remaining employees to be burdened with work.
