Introduction

The way of life of colonial America was shaped and affected by many factors. The importance of these factors not only varied due to the region in which they occurred but also due to the time. On one hand, the natural resources and geography shaped the colonial America, on the other hand, religion, gender, race and violence also molded it. These very factors were incorporated in a well-defined manner by David Freeman Hawke in his book “in Everyday Life in Early America” written in 1988.
