The book “How to Become a Leader that People will Follow” by William Wyatt is an excellent reference for developing key qualities that a leader should possess so that he is followed by others. According to the author the main function of the leader should be to identify and meet the needs of the members of his team, so that, they can have the tools and motivation needed to accomplish a task or achieve the goals. A leader is one who is subordinate in charge, regardless of rank, and involves taking a complex role that requires knowledge, skills, empathy and commitment. That is, a leader is a person, who should set the objectives for himself as well as for his team, define strategies, establishing what tasks should be carried his team and evaluating their performance.

In addition, the author has emphasized the importance of true leadership and what it takes to influence the lifestyle of people so they want to follow you. A leader is much more than a boss, he is a person who has the ability to make sound decisions for a working group, inspiring others to achieve a common goal, and able to take initiative, manage, convene, promote, encourage, motivate and evaluate a team to achieve the objectives of a company.

In chapter 3, the author reminds readers of what they are looking for in a leader. He also suggests that in the process of becoming a leader an individual must take time to learn leadership style. Understand the skills needed to become an effective leader. Overwhelmingly, people look for a leader who has the ability to make decisions, especially under pressure. When faced with a difficult decision, he utilizes his knowledge to deal with the situation. Since the best decisions are those that are made with full knowledge of the facts. Leaders are valued for their ability to be realistic, and not philosophical. Your team members can quickly lose confidence in you if you are constantly faced with doom and gloom. The situations are not always ideal, but a leader is expected to find the best way to fix the situation.
