Bipolar Disorder

We all have mood swings. Periods or disappointment are natural reactions to the difficulties that arise in our lives. The loss of a loved one, problems at work or a deteriorating relationship are all factors likely to depress. Conversely, a resounding success or resolving a problem makes us happy and satisfied. Bipolar disorder is also known as manic-depressive illness, is the psychiatric diagnosis that describes a mood disorder characterized by the presence of one or more episodes with abnormally high levels of energy, cognition and mood. People usually have an expression by an electrochemical imbalance in brain neurotransmitters (Goodwin, Jamison, 2007). The basic element for the treatment of bipolar disorder is the awareness of the problem, your knowledge on the part of the patient and their relatives through psycho-education to enable them to cope with the crisis without fear unfounded and most valid tools as well as prevent relapse.

Etiology

There are many factors that are the cause of this disorder:

Biological factors

Some medications can be triggers for access or manic depressive. Some toxic substances (alcohol, cannabis, cocaine, etc) are prognostic factors for disease progression. The brain is composed of a large number of neurons that communicate with each other at junctions called synapses. The information transmission at these synapses is via small molecules secreted by neurons. These "biological messengers" are called neurotransmitters. The bipolar mood disorder could be linked to disruption of information transmission at these synapses. Research has made much progress in this area in recent years, and the findings have led to improved treatments.

Genetic factors

The existence of genetic susceptibility factors is well shown in studies with families of bipolar patients, studies of twins and adoption studies. Molecular biology studies have identified candidate genes and genomic regions potentially involved in the development of problems bipolarizes (Dennehy, Dennehy, 2010). Bipolar disorder belongs to the group of complex hereditary diseases characterized by the interaction of numerous genetic and environmental factors to arrive at the outbreak of the disease. The bipolar mood disorder could be linked to disruption of information transmission at these synapses.

Psychological factors

The causes of bipolar disorder seem to be a combination of genetic vulnerability, environmental factors, quality of life emotional stress and trauma experienced significant and repeated since birth. The psychological explanation is trying to understand how the patient's personality was built and how bipolar disorder ...
