This article talks about Schumpeter's redefinition of diplomatic democracy as simply a leadership rivalry which was explosive in the post war political science. He did not believe in personal will, or general good are important for democracy, but everyone is compelled to believe these settings in the way of not accepting them. Democracy is only a way of selecting leaders, and does not have any value on its own. Leaders force their opinions, and there is no control of the people that elect them, and this is the way things should be. The author of the article contradicts with the views of Schumpeter on leadership democracy as he thinks they are not feasible, descriptively and prescriptively. The form of democracy of competitive elections is an essential but not an enough condition for the limited practical function of an administration categorization. For a complete definition of democracy it is important to consider common will, good and other values (Mackie, 2009, pp. 128-153).

This article relates to the forms of democracy in the way that Schumpeter believes that some of its forms are not good, but its sterilized form such as a simple election is good. In the past, the governments that have not really been described as democratic have done an effective job.

The second change was that there is a need to bring in a new candidate each time in order to enhance the process. These two changes are against the role of participatory democracy in order to improve the quality of democracy. The author of the article believes that participation and demonstration should be combined which will give a chance for legitimizing the democratic process (Avritzer, 2012).

The article relates the way to the way of integrating participation with participatory democracy leads to greater transparency which causes the democratic process to be more legitimate. In the participatory process, any resident can propose changes to the constitution. In order to get that change made, the proposer needs to get the support of community members.

This is a very good way to involve the people on the decision making level. When people know their voices will be heard, and if they have a valid reason for the change to take place they will focus their efforts towards those initiatives. The modern democracies need to adapt ...
