Am I a good communicator? The answer is hidden in my communication effectiveness. If I have effective communication skills, then I can be a good communicator. It depends on our interpersonal communication. Communication skills are the most essential part of our life. It is the feeling that how you behave with others, crossing the barriers & hurdles. Effective communication involves many factors such as facial expressions, personal appearance, gesture, and body language.

Effective communication is very important for health care industry because misunderstanding in it can cause harm to many. In health care industry, a health care professional should know the rules of effective communication to handle their patients. The individuals having difficulty in expressing their issues should be handled carefully, especially the ill, and disable patients. Poor sight is also a barrier in effective communication, and it should be treated calmly through proper medical aids. Effective communication skills can be achieved by using simple words and easy sentences, keeping in mind the ability of the listener.

Therefore, it is the responsibility for a health care professional to communicate effectively with the patients. In health care industry, the professional should have good listening, explaining & excellent questioning skills, so it will be easy to understand the disease of the patient. The language used must be simple, and easy to understand. The pace of speech should be correct, and clear. If a patient is suffering from short memory, a professional must use short sentences. Noise is also a barrier in health and care industry, and a good communicator should remove it to get best results. Gestures and facial expressions are needed; words alone will not work properly (Bernard Moss, 2008).
