James Watson
One of James Watson's eminent nursing theories is the Caring Theory (Watson, 2006). This particular theory is a value-based guiding approach to administration and caring, which will help develop a clear and caring model for professional nursing. This theory aims to instill the vital values that are essential for this profession so that it could become a economic as well as a human resource function for nursing and its systems. Many hospitals in America today have begun to study and implement this theory of human caring as a guiding resource for their nursing practices. One of the key importance of this theory stems from the fact that this theory highlights human caring and relationship centered caring as the focal of health and care providing foundation and ethics. Through this, a healing environment is established within the hospital and other caring facility. This also inculcates the aspect of humaneness in the health and care provision by the facility and the nursing staff. This is because the care is administered as transpersonal and involves establishing of a strong relationship between the carer and the individual being cared for.
Moreover, Watson & Smith (2002) highlights the emergence of knowledge and concept of incorporating caring as a fundamental principle in nursing practices.
