Introduction

John Dewey was born on 20th of October, 1859 and died on - 1st June, 1952. He was a renowned specialist in philosophy belonging to America. He was a prominent psychologist and educationalist as well, who introduced unique and influential ideologies in the world of education and societal improvement. He developed the basis of pragmatism i.e. a philosophical movement based on using practical consequences as the primary basis for evaluation; practicality, quality of being practical and one of the founders of functional psychology. He was a major delegate of the progressive supporter of populism, philosophies of schooling during the first half of the 20th century in America. In spite of the fact that Dewey is most known for his subject related to education, his other publications include various topics like experiential learning, natural world, art, logic, inquiry, democracy, and ethics. Here, we will be focusing on his educational philosophies and its analysis in relation to the adult education.

Generally, the process of gaining knowledge through experience can be stated as the process of learning. Learning is a never-ending process and it continues through whole life. If we talk in terms of physiology, it is the development of cell-gathering and stage successions. This cycle of learning is applicable in case of child's learning. Grown-ups use much time in creating fresh measures than developing up-to-the-minute progressions. We can understand new ideologies by the help of our past experiences and backdrop. In terms of neurology, any recognized information (from practice and understanding) emerges to be fulfilled by exceptionally complex preparations of cell resources. The process of learning not only demands zeal but it also require a person to go through the phases of re-learning and un-learning.
