Entry # 1: Selection of the Civic Project

I ambitiously choose the project as this project comes very close to my heart. The topic that I have chosen is “Nursing Homes” as this is a noble deed in which volunteers can play their significant role in serving the people. Volunteering at any nursing home would be a great experience. By this job an individual can get to aid to his or her society and will acquire volunteering hours for NHS, college or scouts.

There may be a number of reasons for choosing the same as volunteering at nursing home is definitely be a worthwhile experience for a person of all age. The life of nursing home and duties of volunteers must attract everyone to be a part of that; it may be one of the reasons that I have chosen this topic for the project. Volunteering in any nursing home might be an excellent opportunity to catch an on the work practice and provide residents as well, who over and over again do not obtain the social or emotional stimulation they wish to get, an opportunity to attach with someone. A number of seniors cannot be concerned for them and call for support and help from others. All nursing homes are based on volunteers who assist in responsibilities, which their staff members might not be competent to carry out due to awe-inspiring compulsions in further areas. These nursing homes are grateful for any time an individual can give.

All of these good practices of volunteer, at the nursing home really attract me in a positive way to be a part of it. The life at nursing homes and a good will to serve people at nursing home is really touching to be a part of this good deed. A large number of persons volunteer for different sorts of reasons. Unpaid volunteer labor can aid people as well as help us in learning new expertise, developing a perceptive of an exacting place of work as well as could be a suggestion at what time searching for an employment in future. Volunteers time and again are encouraged for joining the fun also. Volunteers of Nursing home can just arrange visits to the residents of nursing home share their reminiscences, providing soothe to all those whose family and friends are not present yet.

While, if I consider some more points that are important in choosing this project is the community issues as a large number of people at nursing home with dementia have challenging behaviors. Such, behaviors may involve physical and verbal abuse, acting improperly in community, resisting essential care, and nomadic. Communication issues are also widespread more or less half of the nursing home inhabitants have complexity both understanding others and being understood. Depression is a further condition, which affects the resident of nursing home. Research has exposed it might happen more in residents of nursing home than in persons existing in the society.
