Nursing is generally thought of as an easy job in that the job of a nurse is that of a facilitator who provides support to other interlinked professionals, patients as well as their families. This could not be farther from reality in that nursing as a profession is evolving at a very rapid pace with new interventions and role developments for professional growth and career. The transition from student nurse to a professional nurse practitioner requires the completion of such tasks to assess the readability of the nurse to the real world situations on job.
The essay presents a case analysis of a selected case that represents understanding and application of theoretical models for critique. In doing so, the researcher conducted literature review on biomedical and psychological issues presented in the case and suggested appropriate nursing interventions both for the individual and the community.
Case Summary
Roger is 17 years old and has been transported to the Emergency Department by ambulance from a friend's party. On arrival he is rousable, smells strongly of alcohol and has a tachycardia of 130bpm.
