Flat/ Round Character

Story "The Garden-Party" tends to base itself on the characterization which tends to be flat in nature. Thus it won't be wrong to state that the characters used in the story tend to be flat in nature. Though, the fact is required to be kept in mind that a flat character is one which is multi-dimensional. Thus, the reader tends to be clear regarding the way story tends to proceed and inculcate the behavior of the characters in the context of the Initial idea of the story or the pitch of the story. Laura tends to associate herself to towards the working class. As she is not able to hide her feeling and establishes right in the start that her character is one this is inclined towards the working class. This enables the reader to construct the mind in one way only. Thus, giving a flat nature of characterization to the story. On the other hand the nature of the characterization of the 'Tell-Tale Heart' tends to be based on more round nature. Thus, it would be safe to state that the characterization in the Tell-Tale Heart tends to be round. Since it is a murder story thus it would be obvious that the story would involve suspense. Since, it tends to involve suspense thus; the reader tends to doubt the characters in the context of the story. It is due to the round nature that the reader is able to remain attached to the whole context of the story by going through different phases of ups and downs, fright and fear.

Individuality/Typicality of Character

The authors in both the stories have utilized the characters with a certain tinge and taste. As identified above that the characters of both the stories tends to move as per the nature of the story. Since Garden part is a relatively slow paced story thus the characters in the story tends to formulate or the events which tends to precede the other tends to take a lot of time. The same thing can be stated regarding the tell tale heart. However, the tell Tell-Tale Heart tends to be narrated at a much faster pace. Moreover, the individuality of the character tends to be more prominent in the 'Garden Party' as compared to the 'Tell-Tale Heart'. This tends to be related to the pace of the stories.
