Introduction

A Concorde leaving for the Air France flight 4590 from Paris Charles de Gaulle to New York crashes into a hotel in Gonesse near Paris. The accident occurred at 4:44 p.m. is one minute and twenty-eight seconds after taking off from Roissy airport. None of the 100 passengers on the plane and nine crew members has survived, and four occupants of the hotel are to be counted among the victims. When taking off from runway 26 right at the aerodrome of Paris Charles de Gaulle, shortly before rotation, the right front tire (wheel No. 2) left the train goes over a metal strip fell from another aircraft and deteriorates. The investigation will show that the crash was due to a metal strip on this track, from a Continental Airlines DC-10 took off a few minutes earlier. It was a tire burst, and a piece of wheel was projected onto the wing, causing the explosion of a tank. The fuel is then ignited, and damage to an electrical circuit is prevented from entering the landing gear. The engines were then reduced causing the accident.

Several similar incidents with burst tire, took place before, but not caused by fire: it is the first crash of a concord. This accident marks the end of the career of the aircraft, technological marvel and French pride. Air France Flight 4590 was a Concorde flight operated by Air France which was scheduled to run from Charles de Gaulle International Airport near Paris, to John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York City. On 25 July 2000, it crashed in Gonesse, France. Discussion

On July 25 2000 Concorde crashed shortly after take-off from Roissy Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris, killing 113 people. On February 2 2010 the long-awaited trial - and battle of experts - began before the Pontoise Criminal Court. The judgment was finally rendered on December 6 2010; however, almost all of the parties involved in this action have now lodged appeals against the judgment [2].

The director of Aérospatiale's Concorde program from 1978 to 1994.

A former engineer in chief of Aérospatiale's supersonic team.

An ex-director of the French civil aviation authority.

Continental Airlines.

Two of Continental's employees.

The principal offence with which the accused had been charged was manslaughter, which carries a maximum penalty of five years' imprisonment and a fine of €75,000 for individuals and €375,000 for companies. Damages were also claimed by a number of parties (including Air France, which claimed €15m) that had constituted themselves as civil claimants. [1]
