Abstract

The main purpose of this paper is to discuss the increased rate of bullying in United States of America. The rate of bullying is continuously increaisng in United States of America and there is a great need to develop the effective strategies so that the acts of bullying could be ended and eliminated from the society. The paper discusses the different kinds of abuseive behaviors, the impact of bullying and the ways through which the acts of bullying could be prevented. The prevention of bullying is very necessray in order to save the children from being the victim of bullying. Thus, it can be said that the majors against bullying should be adopted to save the people.

Bullying has increased in America and it has come out to be an epidemic and there has shown that 30% of the teenagers has been bullied. Adolescents bully other kids to show power over another kid. They do this by verbal abuse, emotional abuse and by isolation. With this type of bullying that is going on it causes kids to lose their self-esteem commit suicide or homicides.

Discussion

According to psychologist specializing in school violence, Dan Olweus, bullying is defined as: 

type of conduct directed at harm

repeatedly over time

occurs within an interpersonal relationship characterized by an imbalance of power and strength

where the victim can hardly go on their own

The Behaviors of Bullying

Different Types of Behvaiors along with the cultural aspects

There are different types of bullying

Physical bullying: pushing, kicking, punching, assaults with objects.

Verbal bullying: is the most common. It translates into insults and nicknames mainly but also are frequent slurs in public or being constantly highlighting a physical defect.

Psychological bullying: it's in all types of bullying and these are actions aimed at undermining the self-esteem of adolescents and foster their sense of insecurity and fear.

Social bullying: Teen aims to isolate the rest of the group and leave it in a bad position. It is known as indirect bullying (Bacchini, 2009).

Victims of Bullying and the ways to Recover from Bullying Abuse

Suffering bullying is a very serious matter and can lead to serious consequences for those who experience terrible and for those around him.

If you suspect your child suffers bullying:

•talk to him

•allow them to express their feelings

•not push or judged

•talk to the center and teachers

•suggest the idea of going to a psychologist

Bullying can have serious consequences and for all concerned. The teen who suffers bullying can:

•Be ashamed of what is happening

•Develop a low self

•Feeling very depressed and not wanting to participate in class or extracurricular activities

The bully may:

•Have difficulty to interact properly with others because he has not learned how to solve problems

•Develop more and more problems with aggression

•Live guilt

A witness who can not do anything:

•Feeling very guilty after the event and even later age

•Have the impression of having encouraged the bully to leave
