Abstract

Organizational ethics and Institutional ethics are becoming a more common terms now a days. Structural design, financing mechanisms of organizations and employer-employee relations are all being focused and highlighted as setups where conflicts regarding value and ethical challenges are increasing day by day. When managers and administrators struggle with ways to functionalize the objectives of organization without violating the professional as well as the personal values, the tensions that are generated in response to the differences in individual, professional and organizational values become noticeable. Administrators have become disheartened with the organizational setup that does not exemplify values according to which they desire to sustain or live. If administrative authorities want to take out solutions to ethical problem that encompasses the confidential information then they should have to be familiar with the procedure of ethical decision making, the moral reasoning behind actions to disclose information and the issues that are related to confidentiality.

Introduction

Many young managers or administrators informed being demanded completely to perform actions or things they personally believed were illegal and unethical (Badaracco & Webb, 1995). The people at administrative positions have a responsibility to practice in an ethical pattern. They should strictly follow the rules and regulations regarding confidential and private information for staff and patients. This will enhance the level of trust in the health care organization. Administration authorities should be competent and confident enough in ethical decision making process. If the higher staff follow and strictly obey the rules and policies of an organization and apply all the standards while decision making process, it will create a very great and good impact on the middle and lower staff, motivate them to work whole heartedly and will raise the sense of safety thereby minimize the problems generated by ethical issues such as privacy and confidentiality, that are shown in routine nursing activities. A competent administrator will be able to recognize and understand the confidentiality issues and will justify when convincing moral reasons supersede confidentiality.

Case

B was the administrator of nursing staff at certain hospital, who work whole heartedly. The nursing staff under her was satisfied as she listen provide solutions to their problems. She was unsatisfied about the activities performed by other administrators. She informed her colleague C about the problem about the ability of flexible staff pool nurses who were assigned to serve in surgical units, but she didn't give the positive response to her. The people working under C were assigned randomly. She has the authority of hiring and guidelines were provided to her but she does not follow the rules as strictly as B. She believes that the nurses employed should have expertise in every field whereas the perception of B was completely in contrast. She believes that the nurses staff should be employed and should be assigned the units that are their field of specialty.
