Abstract

This study tends to explore the aims and objectives of the Senate Five Bill and analyze its effects on different workers. This study also tends to include an interview with one of this individual who seems to be most affected by it. In the end, it will try and extract a meaningful conclusion out of the whole context.

Senate Bill Five

Introduction

Senate Bill intends to create reforms, build new passages and transpire the new rules as per the requirements of the 21st century; this was the view of the senators who were in favor of the bill. Senate Bill five caters to the rules that will bring changes to the existing laws of the lands which had been in place for quite some time now or which have existed from decades and people are so used to of working under it that they tend to reject any steps taken in order to repeal those changes. In general, the Senate Bill 5 intends to change the overall structure of the befits for the employees, change the fiscal results of the local governments and be a source of changing the ways unions and government leaders tend to operate with their management and authorities. This bill intends to target the individuals who have associated themselves from the field of education, administration and school boards, workers etc (Sharia, p.16).

This Bill constituted the image of being controversial mainly due to reason that it intends to target a much wider segment of the society. The most effected portion which will suffer as a result of this bill comprises of Public Workers. A major portion of the public workers accounts for the school employees which represents almost half of the public workers currently working or serving the society in general, who as a result will be most likely lose their collective bargaining rights. It is necessary to keep insight the meaning of collective bargaining, which facilitates the workers of negotiating for any problem which they face during work, via their representatives also known as unit. The range of the problems scales from working conditions including working hours, wage scale, mechanism which looks after the health and security of the workers, any overtime advantages or in certain cases disadvantages, to summarize it, collective bargaining rights tend to serve the purpose of workers. Since this, at all by any means would not work in favor of the employees therefore, this has met with fury and anger among the employees which has thus worked in order to increase the controversialist nature of this bill. The victims of this bill will most likely includes teachers, bus drivers, custodians, counselors who are trying to figure out their status as a result of this bill which would serve the purposes of their bosses.
