Ellenm, Wiebe R. and Lisa, Adams, “Women's perceptions about seeing the ultrasound picture before an abortion,” European Journal of Contraception & Reproductive Health Care, Vol. 14 Issue 2, (April 2009), pp. 97-102

The objective of the paper was to attain an enhanced apprehension of the experiences and perceptions of women regarding getting an ultrasound (US) before they had an abortion. Researchers had used mixed-methods to examine the interviews and responses from questionnaires. Women, who were demonstrating for surgical and medical abortion at two different abortion clinics in the urban, had filled out questionnaires. The authors had selected ten women in a random fashion and interviewed them, six weeks after the abortion regarding their perception of getting an ultrasound before abortion (Choi & Hanley, pp.723-34).

Authors had analyzed these interviews through recording them through tapes and transcribing them. There were a total of three hundred, and fifty participants, and they had an average age of 27.6 years, the rate of births was 0.68, and they were at a mean of 49.1 days pregnancy during the research. A number of women, i.e. 254 women out of a total of 350 i.e. 72.6% of the total had chosen to consider an ultrasound, and around 179 out of the 219, i.e. 86.3% of them had discovered it to be an encouraging experience (Gold & Nash, pp.6-13).

Not a single woman had changed her mind regarding abortion after experiencing ultrasound. Extending the choice to view the US is equally beneficial and feasible for women who are going to have had an abortion. The findings of this research are supporting that it should be made mandatory for women to have an ultrasound before an abortion (Bamigboye & Nikodem, pp.430-2).

Ankrett, Graham, O., S. Killick, “Viewing ultrasound scan images prior to termination of pregnancy: Choice for women or conflict for ultrasonographers?” Journal of Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Volume number 30 Issue 5, (July 2010), pp. 484-488.

The research paper has implied that demonstrating location of pregnancy is the fundamental thing to minimize dangers that are associated with abortion, and demonstrating age of gestation optimizes choice of a woman regarding the timing and procedure (Bamigboye & Nickodem, pp.430-432).

There is very restricted amount of information in practice regarding the perceptions and views of a woman who is going to have an ultrasound before going for an abortion about if they have a yearning to discover the scanned epitome of their fetus (McGilliard & Gaudoin, pp.79-82).

The research has shown that this is very beneficial for women as this gives them an idea regarding what can happen if they go for abortion. The findings of this report will help in development of the ...
