Abstract

Today weight related issues tend to be ranked among one of the biggest problem of the American society and because of this Americans are forced to pay spent more on the health related issues. Thus in the context of this paper we intend to argue that whether government should oversee weight management in the United States or not.

Government Should Oversee Weight Management in the United States or Not?

Introduction

In today's United States of America weight as taken the shape of a serious problem which is the source of discussion among many media can social circles. Today Obesity stands as one of the major problems of the American society .Many experts tend to believe that this problem has reached to the heights where without the interference of the government problem cannot be solved. Where, the other sections of the society tend to believe that weight management or obesity is an individual's problem and he or she is responsible for it.

They also believe that government by no means should interfere in it because it is up to an individual's own liking of how much he or she wasn't to eat and operate. Although, it is the responsibility of the government to keep an eye on whether the food which is available in the market is according to the set guidelines or not (Horbul, p.22). If government wants to interfere in this problem it should only be through this area and other than that it is in no way responsibility of the government to take any action since it has many other problems to tackle.

In the context of this paper we intend to throw light on the whether or not government should oversee weight management in the United States of America.

Holding Government responsible for every other thing and leaving everything to be done by government is the major problem of our society.

Reason

It is the responsibility of the government to look after the interests and serve its citizens in every possible way. Though leaving everything to be done by government is not only being unfair to the government but also to the one own self. I believe that if an individual is overweight due to his or her eating habits government can hardly be drawn upon the matter. The government can only frame and implement the laws which tend to make sure that people do have an idea of the calories and fats they are about to intake. Though labeling can only prove beneficial if a person tries to benefit from it.

At the end of the day I believe laws can only be helpful if they are held accountable in its context. Being overweight is the problem of an individual and the effort should be made on his or her own part to get rid of the extra weight.
