“A Raisin in the Sun”: An Analysis of Conflicts

A conflict arises when the parties argue with each others' opinions, beliefs or simply, points of view. A conflict is the primary source of contention between partners or other parties that often leads to a dissimilarity of opinions and thoughts. Interpersonal relationships are part of everyday life. Getting along with others is never easy, in other cases the relationships are lucky, people get along with each other and not complicate their interactions, letting it upset or downplaying the discomfort caused by the disagreement, misunderstanding, criticism or intolerance. Modern psychology considers the conflict is not only negative, but in a positive way: as a way of organizations, groups and individuals, highlighting the contradictions in the conflict the positive aspects associated with the development and comprehension of the subjective life situations.

The film “A raisin in the sun” depicts conflict of the black families in the south of Chicago. The film shows how conflicts arise as people seem to disagree to one another on one point of contention or the other. The film seems to be captive of the fact that people hold different opinions about things, and seem to deviate from their normal traditions and respectful values for the sake of endorsing those values (Brantley, pp. 23). Ethics and religion are manifestations of social awareness in all societies known to mankind during its journey. Walter is the main character of the film who often fights over money-related issues. He is Mama's son, Ruth's husband, Beneatha's brother and Travis's father. The film focuses his need to earn more and more money for the family.
