CHAPTER 1: INTRODUCTION
Background of the Research
The evidence for regular participation in physical activity for healthy adults and children is compelling. Physical activity contributes to well-being and good health for all and the risks associated with participating in physical activity at levels that promote health and well-being are low. A Cochrane systematic review of exercise therapy for people with multiple sclerosis (MS) confirms there is good evidence that exercise can be beneficial for mobility, isometric muscle strength, physical fitness and mood.
In order to explore safe effective exercise intensity, we conducted a single-blind randomized trial comparing low, high and a combination of low and high-intensity exercise delivered on a cycle ergometer. The study designed so that the exercise dose was carefully controlled and monitored, and progressed with each group receiving the same frequency and duration of exercise and performing the same relative amount of total work per session (Asano and Mayo, 2009, p. 418).
Problem Statement
Vamos, et al. (2007) mourns the fact that they have limited knowledge of the effects of family understanding of certain chronic conditions. To this end, this research analyses existing literature with the view of building an overall understanding of ...
