WALDEN WRITING CENTER

The Walden Writing Center offers a range of services that may be useful to students. One of the services it offers is a webinars. According to the Walden Writing Center Website (2012) the Webinars are online videos on a range of topics that can be observed by students. For this assignment the webinar “Welcome to the Writing Center” (2011) was watched. I did not know about the student success courses. Two of these courses might help me to succeed in my Doctoral Business Administration Studies program. These are graduate writing for non-native English students and communications and teamwork in a global society (Walden, 2011). The programs will be helpful because they will help me develop the writing skills I need to work on. I'm interested in logistics so the communications course might be of interest.

To set up an appointment at the writing center you can use the Internet. With is done by signing on to MyWalden (2012) and selecting academics. From there you can select make an appointment. Select writing center (Walden, 2012). After completing these steps it you click on tutors. This will bring you to a site where you can click a button on the right hand side of the page called make an appointment. You can then pick one of three tutoring options. You are then given time and date options. You will be shown a list of possible dates and tutors. In this case we selected an appointment on November 29, 2012. The process was ended at this point so an actual appointment was not made (Walden, 2012). Another service that the writing center offers is a program called Grammarly. This program helps the student with the grammar in their papers. The confirmation of registration is attached to this assignment as an Appendix.

There are a number of blogs offered on the website. One blog that I found useful was entitled “Weathering the Storm . . . of Problem Statements” and it was written by Nik Nadeau on Tuesday, October 30, 2012. Nadeau (2012) in his blog discusses a number of methods of developing problem statements. He makes recommendations like using a simple problem to build a statement and using your own words to phrase the problem statement (Nadeau, 2012).

Personal Development Plan

I am a student of Doctorate in Business Administration Studies, and I have chosen this field keeping in view my interests. I have always found the field of business to be attractive as I personally believe that this field provides us with a lot of opportunities which can be availed in the future. The business field requires consultants, which can help different organizations by providing them necessary suggestions and advices. I think that during my Bachelors in Business, I have done a lot well, and my studies have been according to my interests.
