Introduction

The paper discusses about the transformation in the United States military and its assessment. It highlights the transformation that has taken place in the various sections of United States military including the Ground forces, Air Force and the Navy of the United States of America. The paper concludes with the prospect of transformation and the assessment of achievements of the various transformation that have been taking place in the United States of America in the recent years.

Discussion

Transformation has become very recurrent among political and military authorities of the Untied States of America. Military transformations can undoubtedly considered to be the backbone of the planning and execution of defense policies of developed countries (Feickert & Blake, 2007). Consequently, this process affects the entire national defense including the strategic concept, military power, financial, industrial cooperation, public administration, personnel management and the culture of defense (Dodge & Johnson, 2006).

Recently, in order to imagine the magnitude of the changes occurring in the Armed Forces (AF) United States military experts have increasingly used the term "transformation" (Gordon & Thames, 2008). This implies that the changes relate to the structure of troops (forces) and the doctrine of their application in light of possible threats (Bennett, 2002). At the same time it is noted that in addition to the general idea of revolutionary change, which entails cutting-edge technology, "transformation" more aggressively forcing management of certain types of United States forces to take concrete joint program of action (Dodge & Johnson, 2006).

The beginning of this process it became clear that the transformation would be a continuous process without end. It means a constant effort to anticipate the future through the development of concepts, processes, organizations and technology (Feickert & Blake, 2007). Now, as these areas are closely interrelated, any change made in one of them will have an immediate impact on the military of United States of America (Mandeles, 2007).

Transformation of the United States Armed Forces

According to General Shinseki, E., the then Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of United States, the term "transformation" should understand the process of transforming the Army, "a force capable of dominating any adversary across the full spectrum of military operations. (Feickert & Blake, 2007)" The aim was to be the creation of a new type of ground forces, much larger than the existing forces for the following indicators:

Rapid response to crisis situations anywhere in the world, timely deployment in the areas of operational purpose;

High maneuverability;

Versatility of troops (forces);

Sufficient for the successful conduct of any kind of action striking force units;

Significant survivability on the battlefield;

Ability to conduct long-term hostilities (Gordon & Thames, 2008).

These points require adjustment of all development plans and programs of the United States Army. Currently, operational and strategic standards require that each brigade of the Army of the new type be able to deploy anywhere in the world within 96 hours, the whole division in 120 hours and five divisions in any theater of war within 30 days (Feickert & Blake, ...
