U.S Governor

Introduction

The topic under study is about one of the Government officials of United States that the President appoints. It discusses the responsibilities of that position, history of professional experience of the person currently in position, eligibility and performance measure of that person. The position, which I have selected for this topic, is Governor of Alabama, U.S.

A Governor of any state is a governing official of the government. He or she ranks under the Head-of-the-state in a non-sovereign level of government whereas, in federations, a governor is an individual who heads a constitute state. In any country, a governor can also be a non-political person. For instance, governors can also be the high ranking officials in some private or government organizations. These organizations can be a corporation or a bank or any other company. In this study, the main focus is on the “Governor” as a government official.

In the United States, President selects the governor. Governor refers to the chief executive of each state who has all the sovereign police power and only subordinate to the powers assigned by the law in the section of the federal constitution.

Responsibilities of a Governor in United States

Historically, American governorship had limited powers than the current time. Few of the powers in history were not as much strengthened as they are today. These include Tenure, budgeting, staffing, recognitions and appointments. Nowadays, governor in United States has more authorities. These authorities include generating policies, enforcing legislative actions, contributing as the head of governmental ceremonies, most importantly promoting economic development in the state and few other services (Kearney, Bowman. p.172).
