Abstract
This is about professional experience in delivering two similar projects of school building being carried out and implemented during the same period of time from March 2006 till December 2007. Both are in the state of large numbers of students with small campus. They need more building space for additional classrooms and new facilities through extensive renovation, alteration and extension.
Extensive site investigation and analysis were being carried out. The site was presented with a number of constraints. Comprehensive discussion and communicating with the school has enabled to compile design brief. Conceptual plan was initiated for the purpose of feasibility studies for client and consultant team participation as well as to consult the local building authorities for their consideration and approval in due respect of that the proposed extension has exceeded permissible plot ratio of the overall campus. Through the substantial effort made by the project team facilitated under the leadership of project architect, this project has been successfully implemented and complete on schedule.
Despite the constraints of the site, the design is able to cater to the range of facilities as required by the school and the new extension sits comfortably amidst its surroundings. Building to suit its function practically and aesthetically with well integrated design in transforming into a desirable school, it was achieved successfully through the professional practice of design inspiration in engaging Research and communication to Design in Satisfying School Requirements, Mastering Well in Delivering into the Campus, Rationalize through New Building, Renovation & Alteration, Contemporary Design Enhance Traditional School, Spatial Organization and Allocation Well-Integrated, Incorporating Conducive Learning Environment and implementing with guide line practice of RIBA Plan of Work from inception to occupancy in achieving the quality High Performance Building.
